📱 How Safety Check uses SMS
Safety Check sends automated SMS alerts exclusively for personal safety purposes — never for marketing or promotions. Messages are sent to a user's designated emergency contact only when a safety alert is triggered. All recipients may opt out at any time by replying STOP.
1 Program Description
Safety Check (mysafetycheck.app) is a personal safety mobile application operated by SAP FACTORY LLC, incorporated in MD/USA. The app sends automated SMS messages to a user's pre-designated emergency contact when a safety alert is triggered.
This is a transactional emergency alert program. No marketing, promotional, or recurring subscription SMS messages are ever sent.

Sample SMS message sent to emergency contact:
"SAFETY CHECK ALERT: [User Name] has not responded to their safety check and may need assistance. Last known location: https://maps.google.com/?q=[lat],[lng] — Please contact them immediately. Reply STOP to opt out."
2 How Opt-In Consent Works
SMS consent is collected during account registration within the Safety Check mobile app. The opt-in flow works as follows:
User downloads the Safety Check app
Available free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
User creates an account
User provides their name, phone number, and location. They review and accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, which disclose SMS alert usage.
User designates an emergency contact
The user enters their emergency contact's name and phone number. The onboarding screen explicitly states: "Make sure this person knows they are your emergency contact and that they may receive automated calls and SMS messages from Safety Check."
User confirms consent
By tapping "Continue," the user confirms they have informed their emergency contact and obtained their consent to receive automated alerts.
SMS alerts sent only when triggered
The emergency contact receives an SMS only when the user triggers an SOS or fails to respond to two consecutive daily check-in notifications.

Express written consent is obtained from the registered user during account creation, acknowledging that their designated emergency contact will receive automated SMS messages during safety alerts. The user accepts our
Terms & Conditions and
Privacy Policy which fully describe the SMS program.
3 Message Frequency & Rates
Message frequency
Emergency contacts receive SMS messages only when a safety alert is triggered. Under normal daily usage, an emergency contact receives zero (0) SMS messages. There are no recurring daily, weekly, or monthly SMS messages sent to emergency contacts.
A safety alert is triggered when:
- The registered user manually activates an SOS within the app or on their Apple Watch
- The registered user fails to respond to two consecutive daily check-in notifications (spaced 10 minutes apart)
When an alert fires, the emergency contact receives one (1) SMS message per alert event.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard message and data rates charged by the recipient's mobile carrier may apply to all SMS messages sent by Safety Check. SAP FACTORY LLC is not responsible for any charges imposed by a recipient's mobile carrier.
4 Supported Keywords
The following keywords are supported and may be sent by any SMS recipient in reply to any Safety Check message:
STOP
Opt out of all future SMS messages from Safety Check immediately.
Auto-reply: "You have been unsubscribed from Safety Check SMS alerts. No further messages will be sent. Reply START to re-subscribe."
START
Re-subscribe to SMS alerts after previously opting out.
Auto-reply: "You have re-subscribed to Safety Check SMS alerts. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out."
HELP
Receive information about the Safety Check SMS program and how to get support.
Auto-reply: "Safety Check Help: You are receiving this as a designated emergency contact. Visit mysafetycheck.app or email
[email protected]. Reply STOP to opt out."
All opt-out requests (STOP) are processed immediately and permanently. Once a number opts out, no further messages will be sent unless the recipient replies START to re-subscribe.
5 No Marketing SMS & Number Non-Sharing

We do not send marketing SMS messages. We do not share mobile phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
Mobile phone numbers collected through Safety Check — including both the registered user's phone number and their emergency contact's phone number — will never be sold, rented, shared, or disclosed to any third party for marketing, promotional, or advertising purposes.
Phone numbers are used solely to deliver safety alerts as described in this document and in our
Privacy Policy.
